The dock already looks out for its boats. Give it instruments.
Marinas, yards, mobile mechanics, and management companies are the people who actually walk the docks at 2 a.m. DockNeighbor is building the operator side of that — facility-wide sensing, proper staff accounts, and every boat in your care in one app.
🚧 In planning — we're looking for marinas to build this with. The operator platform is not a product you can buy today. If you run a marina, a yard, or a service business, this is the moment your requirements shape it.
Why the facility changes the economics
A single boat has to buy its own connectivity. A marina already has power, backhaul, and a building at the head of the dock — which makes per-boat coverage dramatically cheaper than anyone doing it alone.
One hub, a quarter mile
Long-range LoRa sensors reach across a marina, so a single hub at the dock office can serve every boat on the pier instead of one boat needing its own cellular plan.
ExploringDock-wide power-out detection
A tripped pedestal is not one boat's problem — it silently ends charging and refrigeration for everything on that circuit. Facility-level sensing catches it once, for everyone.
ExploringShared emergency alerts
When something happens on your docks, the people on your docks are the ones who can act. Alerts that reach a whole facility are worth more than alerts that reach one absent owner.
PlannedService accounts, not shared passwords
One account for the business. Owners grant it access; your staff see every boat in their care. Nobody hands out a personal login, and access ends cleanly when a customer leaves.
PlannedWhat already works, today
You do not have to wait for the operator platform to start. The sharing model that ships now already covers a surprising amount of what a service business needs.
- Owners invite you, with a role.Full admin, monitor and control, or view-only — so you can see a customer's bilge and batteries without being able to open their water.
- Every shared boat in one app.Switch between the boats you look after without switching accounts.
- The plan follows the boat. The owner subscribes; everyone the boat is shared with inherits its features. You are not billed per customer boat.
- Access ends when it should.Owners can revoke, and ownership transfers cleanly when a boat changes hands.
How it would be paid for
Under discussion, and genuinely open: site operators install the shared hub, and subscriptions can be member-paid — each owner keeps their own plan — or pooled by the facility as an amenity. If you have a strong opinion about which of those works for your business, that is exactly the input we want.
