History & data
What DockNeighbor records, where the data actually lives, and how long each plan keeps it.
Readings reach the DockNeighbor cloud through the station, and the cloud keeps the record so any of your devices — or anyone the boat is shared with — can look back from anywhere. This page explains what is kept, for how long, and what the cloud does and doesn’t store.
What is recorded
- Usage history — battery voltage, shore-power readings and, with a valve, water flow, bucketed into hourly aggregates and shown as charts in the app.
- Event log — flood alarms, valve opens and closes, threshold crossings, and other notable events, in the order they happened.
How long it is kept
| Plan | Retention | Export |
|---|---|---|
| Free | About 1 year | — |
| Dockside | About 2 years | — |
| Weekender | About 3 years | CSV export |
| Voyager | About 5 years | CSV export |
Long-term data is downsampled to hourly aggregates. You keep the shape of the
data — voltage trends across a season, shore-power consumption, daily water usage — without the
cloud hoarding every raw reading forever.
Where your data lives
Two places, and only two:
- Your device — the app’s display preferences, and a cached copy of what it last showed you.
- Your vehicle’s cloud record — each vehicle has its own document holding its settings, the last-known state of every sensor, and its plan’s history window.
The cloud’s role is deliberately small. It keeps each vehicle’s last-known sensor state so the app can show status from anywhere, sends the alerts, and can close a LinkTap valve on a flood event. It retains history at the vehicle’s plan retention and nothing more — it does not build profiles. Details: privacy policy.
